Both Students and Employers Benefiting from Micro-Internships

You are here: Home / Blog / Both Students and Employers Benefiting from Micro-Internships

June 14, 2019 //  by Amit Kumar

Micro-internships also known as project-based internships are rising in popularity as more and more college students to urge to get one and gain some much needed practical experience and for employers to check talent before making a commitment to a candidate. The following article will inform you about the benefits of micro-internship for Students and Employers.

These internships that last over a period of a few days or weeks can produce a lot of purposeful experience if done properly. Instead of going for longer programs that involve you to pay with bits and pieces of your attention over a long time, micro-internships typically specialize in one, a substantive project that can only be achieved with peak focus and determination.

These could include having an intern write a blog post or doing something like compilation analysis. For several firms, these are tasks that while being vital are not always completed. It is a way to offer a student early insight into what the work is really about and is also useful for the leadership. Instead of a head making an attempt to provide a stimulating set of days or weeks for an intern, micro-interns can get specific projects done for the company.

Testing talent before you hire

For employers trying to check the talent of a candidate regardless of past experience, micro-internships supply insight into the way individual works and learns while on the job. Experts can easily identify the growth and sincerity shown by a student while following instructions or trying to complete a specific project.

For college students looking to boost their resume this relationship developed with their managers and team might be exactly what they need along with a quick new skill learned over a small time period. This ability to decode and work on instructions remotely creates an additional democratic system for interns as well.

Everybody wins

With growing demand and need of interns, micro-internships provide an arrangement that is a win-win for both the employer and the intern. As a regular student, you might enjoy the flexibility and freedom that comes when operating around your schedule. And with these projects, you can have that along with gaining insight into a wide variety of industries of the world while still generating an income (however little it may be).

And for employers, the quick access to high-quality talent is a valuable asset. There might be several projects that are a high priority, with the number of people they can be assigned to being limited. With micro-internships, an employer can spell out when and what they desire and then select them from amongst the prime candidates. With this approach, a project can be selected quickly, handed off to the right intern with nominal time and feedback and prime quality work can still be done on it.

Larger corporations are also looking to exploit this as a measure to look for potential workers. For example, Microsoft and Google are already exploiting micro-internships for immediate support and early access to talent over the summer with their own specialized internship programs.
