Canada has issued 3,400 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for the Canadian permanent residence in the first Express Entry draw of 2020. Invitations were made to the candidates with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 473. Canada immigration authorities held this program on January 8, 2020.
The Express Entry system is an immigration system implemented by Canadian immigration authorities. It is Canada’s primary source of skilled foreign workers. It manages the pool of candidates for three of Canada’s federal high-skilled immigration programs — the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class and Canadian Experience Class.

To be eligible for this new express entry program, candidates need to receive at least a CRS score of 473 and entered their profile in the Express Entry pool. The CRS considers four main factors age, education, skilled work experience and Proficiency in English or French.
The target for new permanent resident admissions through this new express entry is slated to rise to 85,800 this year and 88,800 in 2021. The goal for Canada’s Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), a portion of which is also managed by the Express Entry system, is set to rise to 67,800 in 2020.
Saskatchewan Draws Applications for Latest Expression of Interest Through its SINP
Express Entry applicant who will obtain a provincial nomination, they will receive an additional 600 points toward their CRS score and are effectively guaranteed an ITA.
Now, this express entry system is different than previous invitation round held December 19, which issued 3,200 ITAs. The minimum CRS in the last draw was 469, which was four points lower than the latest draw.
The federal government has stated its intention of welcoming more than one million newcomers over the next three years. Although the CRS cut-off has increased four points since the last draw, it is no reason to be discouraged.
Ontario PNP Draw Invitations for Express Entry Candidates
Stakeholders expect to see near 30 draws and more than 80,000 invitations issued in 2020, with a majority of draws featuring CRS scores around 470 to enable Canadian immigration authorities to meet targeted annual immigration levels for 2020.
