A Student Visa Can Provide You With an Opportunity to Work Part-Time

Grabbing a job during the pandemic is a challenging affair. Millions of international students are not getting a job due to Covid-19. As it is, they are facing a tough time due to the restrictions on international borders. So, they are in a dilemma.

First, should they opt for higher studies in foreign countries?

Second, what subjects should they study?

Should international students study in foreign countries?

The situation is not conducive for international students now. And that is due to the pandemic.

Some countries have imposed strict immigration laws for international students. For example, the USA introduce an immigration law in January 2021, wherein international students can stay in the country for four years. That is the maximum tenure for the international students. They cannot stay beyond that period to finish their higher studies. The four-year term is not enough for the international students probably because they wouldn’t get much time two do other courses. Plus, they would not get any time to do internships or gain work experience in the USA.

Canada, on the other hand, is introducing friendly immigration laws for international students. They have opened universities from October 2020. These universities have opened after the government has permitted them to welcome international students. The universities have to show the Covid-19 readiness program to the provincial government of Canada.

As per the reports, more universities are planning to open in 2021. So if you want to do higher studies in a foreign country, then you can consider Canada. It is not the right time to choose US universities for higher studies. Unless Biden changes immigration laws, international students do not have much to hope for from that country. However, Canada is introducing an immigration law where international students can stay in the country for two more years after finishing their higher studies.

International students can set up their entrepreneurial ventures in Canada. As long as the business is legal, they can run their business and build their career.

Japan is yet another student-friendly e country. Like Canada, there are also planning to introduce an immigration law where international students can stay in the country for two years to set up their business.

International students can go to these countries for their higher studies. Countries like Canada and Japan are giving them ample opportunity to gain work experience and develop their career.

It is not that Japan and Canada on not concerned about the domestic students. It is just that they are worried about their frail national economy. Covid-19 has damaged their economy to a great extent. And they know that international students can help them to revive their broken economy.

Another country that has opened its gate for international students in Australia. Some private universities have coordinated with the Australian government and received permission to welcome international students. In November 2020, they welcomed around 60 to 70 international students. And in 2021, they are planning to invite more international students to the country. The government is skeptical due to the covid-19 restrictions and public safety. If everything goes well, then the Australian government may permit to welcome more international students in the country.

What subjects should students study?

You can pursue an MSc in Marketing and Public Relations, Marketing Management, Communication and Advertising, Marketing, Luxury Brand Management, etc.

It is a one year course you can study at UK colleges. The best part of this course is that you can study in the UK for two years after finishing your studies. So, you can get enough time to do another education program. Furthermore, you can get time to do internships and gain work experience in the UK.

Several UK universities have resumed working since September 2020. So, you can apply to universities now. Just make sure you check out the immigration laws because the UK government is bringing a new immigration route. Although they say that the new route will be e beneficial for international students, there is no guarantee about it.

New Zealand is also so not behind Australia, Canada, and the UK. Newzealand has a Master’s in management program. The duration of the course is one year. They are charging fees at par with the UK.

Newzealand is almost Covid-free. So, it is an excellent country to pursue higher education. However, international students to remember one fact. They have to undergo the Covid-19 test and be on the quarantine period after arriving in a foreign country. Most countries are not paying the expenses for quarantine or the Covid-19 test.

Conclusion

Earlier, international students went to the UK for higher studies without any second thought. But the situation is gradually changing now. International students need to think a lot about the subject and the country they plan to study. If the country is not ready to welcome international students, there is no point in fighting for the visa. Even after getting a visa, they may not stay in the country for a long time. In that case, they will not be able to gain work experience.

For example, international students should avoid countries like China, which is not ready to co-operate with anybody. China is not allowing international students to enter the country. Domestic students have already resumed the classes. But international students are doing only online classes. They are not enjoying any facility for which they have paid double or triple the amount of domestic students. So, international students need to think a lot before applying for or a visa in any country.

If the subjects are not that great or the country is not that appealing, international students can stay back in their home countries and study there. At least, that will help them to save time and money. They will also avoid useless hassles and problems in the long run. Many international students have already lost time due to Covid-19. New international students should avoid that mistake at any cost.
