58 Applicants Invited by British Columbia to Apply for Provincial Nomination

British Columbia invited 58 candidates for immigration with a job offer in the technology sector to apply for a permanent residence provincial nomination.

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) Tech Pilot draw was held on 29 December for the Express Entry BC and Skills immigration categories of selected candidates.

Selected candidates came from the Skilled Workers and International Graduates subcategories and required a minimum provincial score of 80.

A fast-track immigration path for in-demand tech workers and international students is the BC PNP Tech Pilot. It works through the current provincial immigration streams of B.C.

Concierge service for employers, weekly drawings for technology workers, priority processing of applications, and flexibility in the length of job offers are features of this pilot project.

Applicants must have a valid job offer of at least 12 months in one of the Tech Pilot’s 29 eligible occupations to be considered eligible for this immigration program.

Candidates must first create a profile through the BC PNP online portal called the Skills Immigration Registration System to apply for the Skills Immigration or Express Entry BC categories (SIRS). British Columbia implemented the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) in 2016. SIRS is a point-based system that ranks eligible candidates based on factors such as education, work experience, English proficiency, and the type of job offer they have received, according to a score.

In each Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC category that uses SIRS, the highest-scoring candidates are invited to apply for a provincial nomination through periodic drawings from their respective candidate pools.

The Express Entry BC subcategories for Skilled Workers and International Graduates are linked to the federal Express Entry system and allow the BC PNP to nominate qualified worker candidates with an Express Entry profile.

An additional 600 points towards their Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System score will be given to Express Entry candidates receiving a British Columbia nomination. An Invitation To Apply will be effectively guaranteed in a future federal Express Entry draw.

In terms of size and population, British Columbia is the third largest province in Canada. It is home to Vancouver, a very successful city, beautifully located in the Lower Mainland and many charming small and medium-sized cities.
