2U has entered the undergraduate education market as it decided to team up with the London School of Economics and Political Science and it is offering a Bachelor of Science in Data Science and Business Analytics. This degree will be a virtual degree and students will learn from a learning management system instead of a traditional classroom.
This 36-month program being conducted with the London School of Economics provides students with digital economy skills which are in huge demand, according to the current market conditions.
Apart from that, It was stated in the company’s financial statement of second-quarter 2019 earnings that 2U has tempered enrollment and revenue expectations in response to the increase in the number of online students seeking admission.
According to 2U co-founder and CEO, Chip Paucek said that the company will moderate its graduate program to further optimize its currently offered programs.
Paucek indicated that the company will sign new programs, and will retain a competitive advantage over other competitors in this industry with having a main focus on statistics, mathematics, and computing skills. The new 36-month program with the London School of Economics will equip students will necessary skills needed in data-driven businesses, including healthcare, finance, and public policy.
He later added that they are excited to create the bond of partnership between the University of London and LSE, two highly prestigious institutions on the first online undergraduate degree.
According to him, data science and business analytics are the essential components of modern businesses and the digital economy. The degree is providing students with essential tools and techniques, needed to face new workforce reality.
